What if they built a website and nobody came?
Hi,
Two things count on the internet:
Content and Traffic!
Of the two, traffic is the toughest. GaJillions of blogs and websites exist today, and only a few get top search engine rankings. Of course you want to target your blogs and sites to the types of customers you would like to visit you, but that's often not enough.
To really begin receiving visitors you probably need to to a couple of things:
1. Exchange Links with complementary sites for internet traffic - this actually helps your content, and also gets the search engines to see your site as more popular - popularity breeds popularity - but you knew that, right!
2. Make sure you blog is listed in relevant web directories for links and traffic. Just google directories and your subject, and you'll get a list to start researching!
3. Of course go ahead and submit your site to the popular big engines like google or msn.
4. Join relevant forums and - in a non-spammy way - include your link in your sigs. Believe it or not, these links do get indexed - and if you're respected they often bring in immediate traffic!
